Basic Technique

"Shaken not stirred" could never be more true.
It takes just a little bit more than some alcohol to make a good martini, it takes a little technique (and a lot of after work practice).
First you take the martini shaker and fill it 1/2 to 3/4 of the way full with crushed ice. (Crushed ice is best!)
Fill shaker with correct portions using a double jigger. Have fun experimenting with the proportions of the ingredients to suite your taste. Where I believe it's necessary, I have recommended specific brands. (For example, I use Absolute Vodka for Dan's Cosmo and Finlandia Vodka for the French.) - it makes a difference...

Shake until just a bit of ice forms on the outside of the martini shaker.
Pour and serve in your favorite martini glass.
